The D Las Vegas is located in the center of the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas. It was once known as Fitzgeralds. It opened in 1980 as the Sundance Casino. It was acquired by Derek and Greg Stevens, owners of Golden Gate Hotel and Casino, a block west on Fremont Street, in 2011. It was quickly remodeled with a modern theme in the downstairs casino. A more historic theme was implemented in the second floor casino.

Casino at The D

The D casino complex has two various casinos at its premise. The downstairs features a traditional casino with table games besides slot machines. The upstairs is a nod to classic old Las Vegas. It provides video poker and additional coin operated games. Many of those games give remarkable returns. There is a direct escalator moving upwards to the second floor from the Fremont Street Experience. Players wishing to leave the second floor need to exit by going down a specific interior escalator to the main casino level.

The D table games area stands as a lively, ongoing party pit. It hosts two unique games not located elsewhere in Las Vegas; Deuces Wild Hold’em Fold’em and Pai Gow Mania. Additional special games comprise Three Card Poker, Let it Ride, and Ultimate Texas Hold’em. The smallest bet for any games is $5. The highest bet is $50 for proprietary games, except Three Card Poker, which allows a $200 max. The energy in this area is electric and engaging.

There are six shoe blackjack tables where double down post-splitting is permitted. The limitations are $5-$1,000. A double deck blackjack game follows the same rules with a $10 minimal bet. Free Bet Blackjack alongside Single Deck Super Fun 21 is accessible with limits set at $5-$500.

The D extends two double zero roulette tables with a $5 minimal bet. These diversions contain the Riverboat Roulette bonus bets offering special neighborhoods as extra bets. Two craps tables are available at $5-$5,000, providing 10 times odds. The casino's flair is evident throughout the floor.

There is a high limit area with baccarat, roulette, and three blackjack tables. The bet limits are $50-$2,500.

Beyond the table games pits, the lower space of The D casino floor mimics most others. There exists practical video poker with numerous penny slot machines.

Heading to the second floor of The D resembles entering a time machine. It’s packed with coin-operated video poker machines. Some devices yield in excess of 100%. This includes a bank of 10/7/5 Double Bonus Poker and the loosest machine in Las Vegas; Loose Deuces with a $.05 denomination. Nostalgia greets visitors in every corner.

Additionally, the upstairs offers one of the mere two Sigma Derby devices in Las Vegas. This experience is a virtual horse racing game with six individual seats. The device merely takes quarters. It’s an entertaining amusement with a dedicated following. Merely five of such machines exist worldwide.

The D stands as one of the few venues in Las Vegas where customers can transform bitcoins into cash using their bitcoin ATM. Despite some fees, they are reasonably moderate, ranging at 5-7%.

The upstairs area also accommodates a William Hill sports book accepting deposits for the mobile application. On the top level, a keno lounge is similarly located.

Hotel at The D

The recently remodeled hotel at The D is one of the best deals in Las Vegas. Most weeknights are available for $22. Weekends start at $79. Peak weekends are as high as $179. The resort fee is $10 per night.

Dining at The D

The top dining choice at The D is the Andiamo Italian Steakhouse. It is managed by the Joe Vicari Restaurant Group. It is open from 5pm to 11pm nightly. A wide range of steak, seafood, and Italian dishes are served. An extensive wine list is also offered.

The D Grill is a high end café that offers a wide breakfast menu, soups, sandwiches, and dinner entrees. It is open from 7am to 10pm daily.

There are two quick serve restaurants on the property. McDonald’s is open 24 hours a day. It is located by the west entrance of the casino. American Coney Island is located near the east entrance. It also has access directly from Fremont Street. It serves Dearborn Sausage products and is open 24 hours a day. It is the only location outside of Michigan.

Bars at The D

There are two bars at The D. Longbar is located downstairs and has huge televisions showing all major sporting events. There is also video poker at this bar, but all games are unplayable. The Vue Bar is located upstairs and has a patio overlooking Fremont Street. There are also a few blackjack tables at Vue Bar.

Location

The D is located on the south side of Fremont Street within the Fremont Street Experience.

Features at The D

The D offers two comedy shows. One headliner is Frankie Scinta, while the other is Adam London. The dinner show Marriage Can Be Murder is also hosted by The D. It has been a part of the Las Vegas entertainment scene for over 15 years.

I like the D except when the band is playing it is just too loud. You cannot even have a conversation with the person next to you or the dealer without screaming.
